Why hemp seed oil in cosmetics?

Hemp seed oil is dark green oil that comes from the Cannabis Sativa plant; it is harvested by cold-pressing hemp seeds.

Thanks to its nourishing vitamins and moisturising qualities it is beneficial for skin and hair health. It has healing benefits, powerful antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and healing ingredients. Hemp Seed Oil contains 76% essential fatty acid, the highest amount of any other plant.

Hemp seed oil is most unsaturated oil and only plant source of vitamin D.

It has high levels of Vitamin A, C, and E. It is rich in amino acids and contains unsurpassed essential fatty acids (EFAs) for use in both skincare and cosmetic purposes. Specifically, omega-3 and omega-6, which are present in hemp oil in the perfect ratio of 1:3 are extremely beneficial. These fatty acids were found in higher quantities in hemp seeds than have been found in seeds of other plants.

Hemp oil is also a natural humectant. It helps our skin hold moisture by replenishing our EFA's (essential fatty acids). It’s able to penetrate the skin instead of sitting on top of the skin the way less-effective oils do.

Hemp seed oil has great anti-ageing properties. It contains Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), a type of omega 6 fatty acid that is great for topical skin application.

It is a powerful anti-inflammatory ingredient that simultaneously encourages skin growth and new cell generation. It may also help to relieve skin inflammation, alleviate dermatitis, and because of its antibacterial properties it can improve therapeutic treatment of acne skin condition.
The antioxidants from the Vitamin E assists in keeping skin youthful, it prevents signs of ageing from developing and can help to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Hemp oil is perfect for most skin types; it has hydrating properties and ability to prevent moisture loss while helping to balance out oil production. It is considered dry oil, it is not greasy and absorbs fast.

Thanks to fatty acids similar to those naturally produced by the skin, hemp oil is non comedogenic, in other words, it doesn't clog pores.

Hemp seed oil also contains nutrients, including calcium, potassium, magnesium, copper, vitamin B1 (thiamine), vitamin B3 (niacin), vitamin B5, vitamin B9 (foliate).
